1.What is Acesulfame Potassium?
Acesulfame Potassium is considered to be one of the most promising sweeteners because of its uncomplicated production process, low price and better performance than aspartame. After 15 years of experiments and tests, the United Nations World Health Organization, the United States Food and Drug Administration, the European Community and other authorities concluded that "Acesulfame is safe and harmless to humans and animals". At present, acesulfame has been officially approved by more than 90 countries in the world for use in the fields of food, beverage, oral hygiene, cosmetics (used in lipsticks, lip glosses, toothpastes and mouthwashes, etc.) and pharmaceuticals (used in syrup preparations, sugar-coated tablets, bitter medicine masking agents, etc.).
2.How is Acesulfame Potassium produced?
The potassium salt of ethylphenolhexylphthalimide-N-sulfophthalofluoride is prepared by dropwise addition of the dienone to a solution of H2NSO2F and K2CO3 in acetone at 0°C. Acesulfame is prepared by reacting it with a solution of CH3OH and KOH. For example, dissolve 76g (0.55mol) of K2CO3 powder in 500mL of acetone, add 57.8mL (1.0mol) of H2NSO2F, and add 84.3mL (1.1mol) of dienophthalic ketone dropwise within 15 minutes, and then stir and mix at 0℃ for 30 minutes, then an exothermic reaction occurs, and the control temperature is below 30℃ until the CO2 is completely released, then the reaction can be stopped. The reaction was stopped. The reaction mixture is suction filtered and washed with a small amount of acetone. Colorless crystals of potassium salt of acetoacetamido-N-sulfophthalofluoride are obtained. This potassium salt is cyclized to acesulfame by stirring with 4-6 mol of methanol solution.
3.How is Acesulfame Potassium stored and distributed?
1. Food grade should be transported and stored according to food hygiene requirements. Avoid mixing and transporting, and load and unload lightly when handling to prevent damage to the package. 2. Precautions for safe operation: In places where dust is generated, provide suitable exhaust equipment. General fire protection measures. 3. Storage conditions:Keep sealed and keep away from light Temperature conditions:Room temperature 4. Moisture-proofing:To avoid the bag from breaking, to avoid its moisture and rain, so as to ensure that its properties will not change. To avoid unnecessary losses. 5. Anti-temperature: when under the influence of high temperature, performance, properties will be more or less affected, therefore, in the storage must avoid high temperature. 6. Fire prevention: When storing, pay special attention to fire prevention.
4.What is Acesulfame Potassium used for?
Acesulfame may be used in ready-to-eat flavored foods or their prepared products (excluding ice cream and flavored fermented milks) with milk as the main ingredient (canned dairy-based desserts only), frozen beverages (except edible ice), canned fruits, jams, preserves, preserved vegetables, processed edible mushrooms and algae, canned mixed grains, black sesame paste, canned cereal desserts, bakery wares, beverages (except packaged drinking water), jellies, table-top desserts, sauces, confectionery, gum-based confectionery, etc., but is not permitted to be used in cold fruit products. Acesulfame is used as a non-nutritive sweetener in food and beverages with essentially unchanged concentration in the general pH range.
