FAQ

1.What is Ascorbic Acid

Vitamin C, also known as vitamin C, is a polyhydroxy compound with the chemical formula C6H8O6. Its structure is similar to that of glucose, and the two adjacent enol hydroxyl groups in the 2nd and 3rd positions of its molecule are very easy to dissociate and release H+, so it has the nature of an acid and is also known as ascorbic acid. Vitamin C has a strong reducibility, easily oxidized into dehydrovitamin C, but the reaction is reversible, and ascorbic acid and dehydroascorbic acid have the same physiological function, but dehydroascorbic acid if continue to oxidize, generate two ketogulose acid, the reaction is irreversible and completely lose physiological efficiency!

2.How is Ascorbic Acid produced?

Glucose as raw material, oxidized to sorbitol under pressure with nickel catalyst, then oxidized to L-sorbitol by fermentation of Bacillus acetogenes, reacted with acetone to form bisacetone-L-sorbitol catalyzed by concentrated sulfuric acid, then oxidized to L-ascorbic acid by potassium permanganate under alkaline condition.

3.How is Ascorbic Acid stored and distributed?

Store under dry inert gas, keep container tightly closed, store in a cool, dry place Store in a cool, ventilated place. The storage should be dedicated and not mixed with other items. Pay attention to fire prevention. Polymerization inhibitor should be added before storage and transportation. Before transportation, check whether the packing container is complete and sealed, and make sure the container is not leaking, collapsing, falling or damaged during transportation. Strictly prohibit mixing and transporting with oxidizing agents, acids, alkalis, edible chemicals and so on. The transport vehicle and ship must be thoroughly cleaned and sterilized, otherwise it is not allowed to ship other items. When transported by ship, the fitting position should be far away from bedrooms, kitchens, and isolated from the cabin, power supply, fire source and other parts. Road transportation should follow the prescribed route.

4.What is Ascorbic Acid used for?

Vitamin C participates in the complex metabolic processes of the body, promotes growth and enhances resistance to disease, and can increase poultry egg production and improve eggshell quality. When animals lack vitamin C, they will have symptoms such as loss of appetite, growth stagnation, lack of fur and anemia. In addition, this product has strong reducing properties and is a good antioxidant. This product can promote folic acid into tetrahydrofolate, which is beneficial to nucleic acid synthesis and the production of red blood cells. It can also reduce trivalent iron ions to divalent iron ions, which can be easily absorbed by the body and is also beneficial to cell production. Vitamin C is involved in the production of collagen in the body. It has the effect of neutralizing toxins and promoting the generation of antibodies, and can enhance the detoxification function of the body. In medicine, it is mainly used for the prevention or treatment of scurvy, and for diseases such as dental caries, gum abscesses, anemia, and growth stagnation caused by insufficient anti-scorbutic acid.
